Nick Castle was a schoolmate of John Carpenter’s while they attended the University of Southern California. Castle originally just wanted to hang around the set of Carpenter’s Halloween, but with a little coaxing, Castle dawned the original mask and became Michael Myers.
Castle continued his work in film as a director. The Boy Who Could Fly, The Last Starfighter, Dennis The Menace, Major Payne and Mr. Wrong are all titles on his directing resume. Castle also co-wrote Escape From New York with Carpenter and the screen story for Steven Spielberg’s Hook starring Robin Williams, Julia Roberts and Dustin Hoffman.
Castle (along with John Carpenter and Tommy Lee Wallace) is also part of the trio The Coup DeVilles.
