The First Official Trailer for Halloween Ends is Here!

July 19, 2022 by Sean Decker

You wanted it… you got it! From director David Gordon Green, Trancas International Films, Miramax and Blumhouse Productions, look for Halloween Ends in theaters and on Peacock October 14th, 2021, courtesy of Universal Pictures. Trick or treat!

The saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode concludes in the final thrilling chapter of the Halloween franchise.

A direct sequel to director David Gordon Green’s global smash hits Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills, Halloween Ends is directed by Green from a script he co-wrote with returning collaborator Danny McBride and series newcomers Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier.

Based on characters created by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, Halloween Ends is produced by Malek Akkad, Jason Blum and Bill Block. John Carpenter, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson, Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, Ryan Freimann, Andrew Golov, Thom Zadra and Christopher H. Warner are executive producers. Ryan Turek is overseeing the project for Blumhouse.

Returning to reprise her role of final girl “Laurie Strode” which she originated in John Carpenter’s immortal classic 1978 film Halloween, Jamie Lee Curtis is joined by original cast members Nick Castle and Kyle Richards. Additional cast includes James Jude Courtney, Andi Matichak, Rohan Campbell and Will Patton.

The official Halloween Ends synopsis from Universal reads:

This is Laurie Strode’s last stand.

After 45 years, the most acclaimed, revered horror franchise in film history reaches its epic, terrifying conclusion as Laurie Strode faces off for the last time against the embodiment of evil, Michael Myers, in a final confrontation unlike any captured on-screen before. Only one of them will survive.

Icon Jamie Lee Curtis returns for the last time as Laurie Strode, horror’s first “final girl” and the role that launched Curtis’ career. Curtis has portrayed Laurie for more than four decades now, one of the longest actor-character pairings in cinema history. When the franchise relaunched in 2018, Halloween shattered box office records, becoming the franchise’s highest-grossing chapter and set a new record for the biggest opening weekend for a horror film starring a woman.

“Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell; The Hardy Boys, Virgin River), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.“

Universal Pictures, Miramax and Blumhouse present a Malek Akkad production, in association with Rough House Pictures.

John Carpenter’s Halloween Returns to Stalk Halloween Horror Nights

June 8, 2022 by Sean Decker

John Carpenter’s classic 1978 slasher film Halloween returns to stalk Halloween Horror Nights in terrifying haunted houses where guests come face-to-face with the merciless Michael Myers, beginning September 2 at Universal Orlando Resort and September 8 at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Halloween is one of the most popular horror films of all time and to many fans, spawned the most-feared antagonist in horror movie history – Michael Myers. As the franchise’s latest trilogy concludes with Universal Pictures’ release of Halloween Ends on October 14, guests will venture back to where it all began in “Halloween” – eerily authentic haunted houses that depict the most chilling moments from the critically-acclaimed original film.

On both coasts, this year’s harrowing experiences will transport guests to the infamous town of Haddonfield, Ill. on Halloween night, when Michael Myers first donned his notorious mask to embark on his brutal rampage. As guests make their way through his dilapidated home and iconic scenes from the movie, they’ll narrowly dodge attacks from the knife-wielding Myers as he stalks their every move. Myers is the embodiment of pure evil who unleashes terror at every turn, and guests will quickly realize that he will stop at nothing and no one to take his bloody revenge.

Select tickets and vacation packages are now on sale for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort which begins Friday, September 2, and tickets for Universal Studios Hollywood, which kicks off Thursday, September 8, will be available soon. Both events will run select nights through Monday, October 31, and additional details and haunted houses will be revealed soon. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.HalloweenHorrorNights.com.

Kyle Richards to Return as ‘Lindsey Wallace’ in Halloween Ends

December 8, 2021 by Sean Decker

According to Variety, actress Kyle Richards has closed a deal to reprise her role of ‘Lindsey Wallace’ in Halloween Ends, the final installment in director David Gordon Green’s new trilogy of films in the Halloween series.

Richards joins returning series star Jamie Lee Curtis in the film, who she first acted beside in John Carpenter’s classic 1978 film Halloween, and again in this year’s Halloween Kills.

“When my character didn’t die (in Halloween Kills), I was like, ‘Uhh, hello!” Richard quipped to Variety in a recent conversation. “The last movie, I saw Jamie on the set, but we didn’t have stuff together. So, I’m really hoping that there is more stuff together (in Halloween Ends). I can’t talk about any storylines, but all I can say is that we start filming in January (2022), and I’m so excited to return with Jamie Lee Curtis and David Gordon Green.”

Of the plot of Halloween Ends, which is set for release from Universal Pictures on October 14, 2022, co-writer (with Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier) and director Green recently teased (via Indiewire) a “very different tone. There’s not a lot of games in it, there’s not a lot of wittiness and retro joy. It’s kind of a coming-of-age film, and it’s a very different tone. And that’s what excited me about it, is to have the three chapters that I’ve been involved in be very different from each other. They are all there to honor Carpenter, but aren’t necessary just emulating him.”

The filmmaker continued, “I sent Carpenter the new draft of Halloween Ends the other night, and I said, ‘If it feels too ‘Christine,’ let me know.’ For Halloween Ends, it’s just a love of Carpenter, you know. It’s more than just, ‘Hey, here’s a character and a community that you’ve created.’ It’s, ‘Here’s an appreciation of your legendary body of work.”

Produced by Trancas International Films, Miramax and Blumhouse Productions and based on characters created by series originators John Carpenter and Debra Hill, Halloween Ends will be produced by Malek Akkad, Jason Blum and Bill Block. Green, McBride, Carpenter, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson and Ryan Freimann will serve as executive producers, with Ryan Turek overseeing for Blumhouse.

Halloween’s Jamie Lee Curtis Receives Golden Lion at Venice International Film Festival

September 9, 2021 by Sean Decker

Jamie Lee Curtis

Halloween series star Jamie Lee Curtis has received a Lifetime Achievement award at the Venice International Film Festival.

The prestigious Golden Lion, given to those who’ve made important contributions to the world of cinema, was presented to Curtis on Wednesday evening, just ahead of the Venice premiere of Halloween Kills, in which she stars (opening 10/15/2021 from Universal Pictures).

Speaking to festival director Alberto Barbera, the sixty-two-year-old actress said of the recognition, “I am incredibly humbled to be honored in this way by the Venice International Film Festival. It seems impossible to me that I’ve been in this industry long enough to be receiving Lifetime Achievement recognition, and to have it happen now, with Halloween Kills, is particularly meaningful to me.”

Curtis continued, “Halloween and my partnership with (the character of) Laurie Strode launched and sustained my career, and to have these films evolve into a new franchise that is beloved by audiences around the world was, and remains, a gift.”

The Lost “Doctor Death” Opening of Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers Has Been Found! Exclusive Photo!

August 30, 2021 by Sean Decker

You wanted it, and Trancas International Films listened. After thirty-two years, the originally filmed “Doctor Death” (and then excised from the theatrical release) opening of 1989’s Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers has been found! And after much painstaking work and restoration, is set to be included in the extras of Shout Factory’s upcoming Blu-ray 4K Collector’s Edition re-release of the film, coming October 5th, 2021 (pre-orders here).

What’re we up to? In search of that ‘lost’ footage from #Halloween 5… #MichaelMyers 🎃🔪 pic.twitter.com/Mz6ltkhuiO

— HalloweenMovies™ (@Halloweenmovies) February 11, 2019

As originally scripted and shot, Michael Myers’ benefactor wasn’t “The Mountain Man” as seen in the theatrical release, but was instead “Doctor Death,” portrayed by Salt Lake City actor and comedian Theron Read (1964-2009). Most remembered for his role as “Mark Bojeekus” in the 1987 feature Three O’Clock High, Read’s turn in Halloween 5 as occultist “Doctor Death” deepens the “Cult of Thorn” mythology, which the series introduced in the 1989 film, and provides an explanation as to the resurrection of Michael Myers.

What’s more, the Shout Factory! Halloween 5 re-release is additionally set to include additional excised moments from the film, including extra snippets of gore which were cut to obtain a ‘R’ rating from the MPAA.

Check out the exclusive screenshot below taken by Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills executive producer Ryan Freimann during the restoration process of the alternate opening, featuring Reed as “Doctor Death” unmasking the unconscious Myers.

Recalling the lost opening to HalloweenMovies.com back in 2019, Michael Myers actor Don Shanks stated, “(I was) placed on this stone alter, and all around (the set) were things that the production had gotten from witches, and people that sell you the occult. And there were scrolls and different chants and this and that. And (suspended from) the altar, right above me, was this rock that looked like a stalactite – it was on a string and it would circle. And Dr. Death was doing an incantation on me, and then he tattoos on me the Thorn rune, which is the sign of eternal life. And so he does all these incantations, and on Halloween Eve (one year later) I come back to life.”

He continued, “So I put the mask on and I grab Dr. Death by the throat and pick him up over my head and break his back, and then put him on the altar, and take the stalactite and I go through his chest with it. I thought it was one of my better kills. But Moustapha [Akkad] thought it was too much of the occult type thing. So they decided to shoot it differently.”

Below please find a full run-down of Shout Factory!’s release of Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers Collector’s Edition (which you can pre-order here).

Happy Halloween!
