Halloween The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)

It’s been six years since the town of Haddonfield last heard from Michael Myers, Jamie Lloyd, and the Man in Black. Dr. Loomis has given up his practice, and retired to the countryside. However, Jamie is alive and being held prisoner by the Man ‘n Black who has plans for her and her new born child. Before he can take the child, Jamie escapes and attempts to find Dr. Loomis. Unfortunately, Michael is close behind, and stops her from getting away but cannot find the child.

Meanwhile, Tommy Doyle has his eye on a family who’s moved into the Myers house. Tommy has become obsessed with Michael Myers. After hearing Jamie screaming for help on a radio, Tommy finds her baby and hides him. The people living in the Myers’ house are relatives of Laurie Strode… Michael returns home and stalks each of them trying to get to Jamie’s baby.

Tommy reveals that Michael has been cursed with Thorn, and that is why he kills on Halloween. The plot takes a turn when the Man in Black reveals himself to be Dr. Wynn, Loomis’ longtime friend and boss from Smith’s Grove. He has been experimenting with Michael all these years…and kept it all secret at the sanitarium. Tommy and Dr. Loomis follow him to the sanitarium, where an all-out battle occurs with Michael.

TRIVIA

Paul Rudd’s film debut; it was filmed before Clueless (1995), his first big-screen appearance.

Brian Andrews was considered to reprise his role as Tommy Doyle from the original Halloween. However, Andrews did not have an agent, so no one could get in contact with him.

Danielle Harris was set to return in Halloween 6, but after going through several hurdles to reprise the role the studio ultimately wouldn’t pay the fee she needed just to break even and her part was recast.

Halloween The Curse of Michael Myers is the only Halloween film to be shot in the fall. It was initially filmed in fall of 1994.

GOOFS / CONTINUITY

Goof: When Tommy Doyle is on the phone w/ Barry Simms, he’s holding the phone in his right hand. In the very next shot, he’s typing with his right hand and it immediately cuts back to him holding the phone.

Continuity: When Jamie is impaled on the farming equipment blood is running from her mouth as she reaches out for Michael. When they cut back to her, it’s gone.

Continuity: In the theatrical version, when Jamie’s body is taken out of the barn, you can see there is a knife in her stomach. This contradicts her death from earlier. In the producer’s cut of the film, Jamie was only stabbed in the barn and was still alive the next day.

Continuity: When John Strode gets killed in the basement of the Myers house, his hair goes from dry to wet in a matter of seconds.

QUOTES

Dr. Loomis: After my stroke six years ago they practically had to hold a pistol to my head to get me to retire. But things are different now- I’m different. I’ve buried the ghosts; I’ve buried them in this manuscript. I don’t want to practice medicine anymore.

Barry Simms: There is help for people like you. It’s called electroshock therapy. C’mon, you don’t really believe Michael Myers is actually alive?

Tommy Doyle: Michael’s work is not finished in Haddonfield. And soon, very soon, he’ll come back.

Jamie Lloyd: Oh god Michael, please don’t hurt me.
