Jamie Lee Curtis Named Horror Scream Queen GOAT at MTV Movie & TV Awards

December 7, 2020 by Sean Decker

Halloween series star Jamie Lee Curtis won the award for “Greatest Scream Queen of All Time” last night at the MTV Movie & TV Awards: Greatest of All Time special, which paid tribute to the most memorable of celebrities in various entertainment categories.

Curtis, who originated the role of final girl “Laurie Strode” in John Carpenter’s immortal classic Halloween (1978) and who has gone on to reprise the role in four follow-ups, as well as in next year’s Halloween Kills and 2022’s Halloween Ends, was on hand to accept the award, presented to her by Scream series star Neve Campbell. Lee’s Halloween nemesis Michael Myers also made an appearance.

“For me, the greatest partnership and the only reason I’m standing here today, is my partnership with Michael, so I’d like to bring him out. Don’t be scared, they love you,” Curtis said in the segment, encouraging the iconic villain to step out from behind a tree. “Everybody, Michael Myers, my friend and often foe. Don’t worry, we both had COVID tests and he’s wearing a mask. The greatest mask ever.”

Jamie Lee Curtis Honored the Dying Wish of a Halloween Fan

November 19, 2020 by Sean Decker

On yesterday’s episode of the “The Talk,” Halloween series star Jamie Lee Curtis revealed that she officiated the wedding ceremony of Halloween fan Anthony Woodle, who succumbed to cancer earlier this year.

Woodle, a longtime fan of the Halloween film series, worked at a movie theater in Charleston, South Carolina, which had reached out to Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills director David Gordon Green, to tell him of Woodle’s plight.

“They said that a young man who works there named Anthony Woodle, very young and beautiful guy, was diagnosed with cancer and didn’t have long to live,” Curtis said on “The Talk.” “And so, David showed him a movie that no one in the world has seen, he showed Anthony and his fiancée Emilee the chance to see Halloween Kills, which I thought was just a beautiful gesture. And I simply followed it up by calling Anthony and sort of starting a conversation to say I could tell him any secret.”

Over the course of that conversation, Curtis decided to marry Anthony and his fiancée.

“It turned out that I also offered to marry him, because I am an officiant,” explained Curtis. “And it turned out that his wedding wasn’t gonna’ be able to happen because he was so near death,” she said.

Performed over Zoom, Curtis officiated the ceremony as Woodle and Emilee’s family and friends gathered. Curtis said that Woodle died approximately an hour after the wedding.

“It turned out to be something obviously incredibly moving and also very life affirming,” Curtis wept. “He was the greatest Halloween fan in the world, and I know a lot of them.”

In October, Curtis honored Woodle on her Instagram after his death.

And here’s the first teaser (released earlier this year) from Halloween Kills!

A direct sequel to director David Gordon Green’s global 2018 smash hit Halloween, Halloween Kills is directed by Green from a script he co-wrote with returning collaborator Danny McBride and series newcomer Scott Teems.

Jason Blum Says Halloween Kills is Coming in 2021, “Vaccine or No Vaccine”

October 15, 2020 by Sean Decker

For Halloween fans, this week was to be a big one, as Halloween Kills was expected to arrive in theaters tomorrow, October 16th. Of course, that release was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was subsequently shifted to October 15th of 2021. But with no vaccine currently available, will Halloween Kills keep that release date?

Jason Blum (Photo by Leonard Ortiz, Orange County Register/SCNG)

According to producer Jason Blum, it will. While recently speaking to Forbes, Blum stated of Halloween Kills, “No, we’re not holding it. Halloween Kills is coming out next October come hell or high water, vaccine or no vaccine. It is coming out.”

As to whether the film will arrive in cinemas or on streaming, given these unprecedented times, we have no idea (although we are certainly holding out hope that we can all experience Halloween Kills in theaters packed with Halloween fans, because the cinematic experience is something we love here at HalloweenMovies).

Either way, it’s comforting to know, that in some way shape or form, Michael Myers will return to the streets of Haddonfield next October.

Halloween’s Danielle Harris to Slay in LA Haunt Experience Joe Bob’s Haunted Drive-In

October 15, 2020 by HalloweenMovies

This year’s been tough for us all. And for fans of the Halloween season in Los Angeles (where they’ve instituted a ban on both Halloween parties and trick-or-treating) many are left to wonder, “How are we to celebrate the holiday?” Well, it seems that Halloween series star Danielle Harris has figured out an alternative, in the form of the drive-in/haunt experience Joe Bob’s Haunted Drive-In, coming to Pasadena’s the Rose Bowl on October 31.

Danielle Harris

According to the official site www.joebobshaunteddrivein.com, the event will, “blend the nostalgia of watching a drive-in fright film festival with a live, interactive haunt. As you and your friends watch The Last Drive-Ins’ Joe Bob Briggs, Darcy the Mail Girl, and scream queen Felissa Rose onscreen present a slew of fright flicks to you in the safety of your own cars, the drive-in itself will become overrun by flesh-hungry ghouls fresh from a Halloween party that are eager to terrorize!”

That, and Halloween series star Harris will make an appearance in the film, according to this lobby card which was released earlier today.

Check out a promo for Joe Bob’s Haunted Drive-In below, and you can follow the event on Instagram @joebobshaunteddrivein and on Twitter @joebobshaunted and Danielle Harris on Instagram @horrorgal and on Twitter @halloweengal.

Be safe out there!
