Excl: Michael Myers Wishes You Well – Nick Castle Speaks!

Given the challenges presented by COVID-19 which we are all currently experiencing, we here at HalloweenMovies.com thought we’d reach out to original Michael Myers actor Nick Castle in order to see how he’s fairing, and he not only gave us an update on what he’s been up to, but also sent some wishes to Halloween fans worldwide for their safety during this time.

“To all the Halloween fans out there, here’s a big ‘hello’ from your old pal, the OG Shape,” greeted Castle, who in addition to originating the character of Myers in John Carpenter’s 1978 horror classic, reprised the role (along with James Jude Courtney) in 2018’s Halloween and the upcoming Halloween Kills, the latter due for release this fall.

“As you can see,” Castle continued, “I’m hunkering down like the rest of you, ‘mask on mask,’ riding out the pandemic with you, and hoping with a little luck we’ll all be healthy and virus-free this October to watch Michael do his thing in Halloween Kills. I did the post-production (voice over) breathing for all of the Shape scenes right before the shutdown took place, and let me tell you, there is no lack of thrills in this new epic!”

“Meanwhile, stay safe! Love to all.”

THR Wraps Up the Halloween Twitter Watch Party

With Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Twitter ‘Watch Party’ of Halloween (2018) haven taken place this past Saturday, director David Gordon Green revealed some details of the upcoming Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, including the status of the trailer of the former (see our coverage here). The conversation of course centered primarily around Halloween, with the film’s principals, including Green, stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle, along with producers Jason Blum, Ryan Turek and John Carpenter offering some insight into the film, including its original ending.

Of note, Green revealed (via the @blumhouse Twitter account) that the scene in which Drew Schied’s character of ‘Oscar’ is dispatched by Myers was not only shut down early, but that it was the most difficult to shoot, with Matichak providing a couple of behind-the-scene shots (see them below).

Additionally, star Curtis revealed interestingly enough that she herself provided the voice over for the crying infant in the crib, who Myers for a moment considers (you know the scene).

Halloween Kills – What We Learned from the Halloween Watch Party

With today’s trending Twitter ‘Watch Party’ event of Halloween (2018), which was hosted by star Jamie Lee Curtis and supporting cast members Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, James Jude Courtney & Nick Castle, as well as producers Jason Blum and John Carpenter and film director David Gordon Green having just completed (courtesy of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment), what did we learn of the film itself, as well as of the status of it’s follow-up, Halloweeen Kills?

Quite a bit actually, and we’ve rounded up some of Green’s tweets (via Blumhouse’s Twitter account) for your perusal below.

On the status of the trailer for Green’s upcoming Halloween Kills, which is slated for release October 16, 2020 via Universal Pictures, the director had this to offer.

As for what Green is up to at present during our current pandemic?

Commenting on the scene in Halloween (2018) in which Myers murderously returns to the tree-lined streets of Haddonfield, he offered the following.

As for the couple dressed as a sexy nurse and a hunky doctor (actors Carmela McNeal and Michael Smallwood, respectively) who Myers for a brief moment considers from the sidewalk, Green teased their return.

As he did that of the film’s cemetery caretaker.

And when asked if Myer’s iconic home from the ’78 classic will return in Halloween Kills? He answered simply, “Yes.”

As for Halloween (2018), Green shared a few things, one a still of some practical effects work by FX-artist Christopher Allen Nelson, and two a permanent souvenir of his own from the producton of the film.

Halloween Kills Donates N95 Masks, and How You Can Help

As we come together as a society to combat the spread of COVID-19, we’ve asked ourselves here at HalloweenMovies.com, “In what other small ways can we help?” Social distancing and self-quarantine are both givens, of which we’ve been adhering. Some on our staff are delivering needed prescriptions and groceries to the elderly. And others are doing their best to assist the medical community who are on the frontlines; those who are putting their very lives at daily risk in order to deliver the aid to those who desperately need it.

With the current nationwide shortage of N95 masks which are desperately needed by first responders and medical practitioners still a concern, Trancas International Films, along with Blumhouse Productions, Miramax and Universal Pictures recently donated their unused reserve of N95 masks stemming from the production of Halloween Kills to Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Other productions have done things similar, including the television series “The Resident” (FOX) and “The Good Doctor” (ABC), among others, who’ve donated medical supplies to organizations assisting in treating those impacted by the pandemic.

As for you, the Halloween fan, a member of a long-standing and close-knit community which has consistently proven itself to be passionate, resilient, creative and caring, we’d like to know what you’ve been doing to assist in this time of crisis. Sheriff Leigh Brackett Returns in Halloween Kills

We’ve been sitting on this news for a while here at HalloweenMovies.com, but today we’re happy to confirm Twitter account @Halloween_Fans’ tweet that another original cast member from John Carpenter’s 1978 classic Halloween has returned for David Gordon Green’s currently shooting feature Halloween Kills: actor Charles Cyphers.

Cyphers, who portrayed ‘Sheriff Leigh Brackett’ in the seminal film (as well as the 1981 follow-ups Halloween II) will reprise his role in Green’s sequel to last year’s hit film Halloween (in its new timeline), joining actresses Kyle Richards (as ‘Lindsey Wallace’) and Nancy Stephens (as ‘Nurse Marion’) and series final girl Jamie Lee Curtis as ‘Laurie Strode.’ Joining them are Anthony Michael Hall (in the role of ‘Tommy Doyle’, taking over for Brian Andrews) and Robert Longstreet as ‘Lonnie Elam.’

Lonnie Elam Returns in Halloween Kills!

While Halloween’s final girl may have felt that Lonnie Elan probably wouldn’t get out of the sixth grade, HalloweenMovies.com is happy to report that the adult version of the school bully (who was first referenced in John Carpenter’s seminal 1978 film classic Halloween, and played by Brent Le Page) apparently did graduate, and will return in director David Gordon Green’s upcoming Halloween Kills, with actor Robert Longstreet assuming the role.

Longstreet, best known to horror fans for his turn as ‘Mr. Dudley’ in “The Haunting of Hill House,” will join original Halloween alumna Jamie Lee Curtis (as ‘Laurie Strode’) and Kyle Richards (as ‘Lindsey Wallace’), as well as Anthony Michael Hall (in the role of ‘Tommy Doyle’, taking over for Brian Andrews) in Green’s sequel to his hit film, last year’s recalibration Halloween.

Further casting news is of course forthcoming, but we’re fairly certain that fans of the franchise can expect the return of some more familiar names, and with them, some familiar faces, in the coming weeks.

Halloween Kills & Halloween Ends Coming 2020 & 2021

The net’s been buzzing for months with speculation and rumor surrounding the potential continuation of the Halloween franchise, which was given new life last October via director David Gordon Green’s smash hit feature Halloween, a film which went on to make over $250 million worldwide at the box office.

Well, today the wait is over, as Universal Pictures has announced release dates for two new feature films in the iconic franchise from Trancas International Films, Miramax and Blumhouse Productions: Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.

The first, titled Halloween Kills, is set for theatrical release on Friday, October 16th, 2020, with Green returning to direct from a script he co-wrote with returning collaborator Danny McBride and newcomer Scott Teems.

The second, Halloween Ends, intended as the finale of the saga, will be released on Friday, October 15th, 2021. Green will direct as well, from a script he co-wrote with McBride and writers new to the series, Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier.

Based on characters created by series originator John Carpenter and Debra Hills, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends will be produced by Malek Akkad, Jason Blum and Bill Block. Green, McBride, Carpenter, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson and Ryan Freimann will serve as executive producers, with Ryan Turek overseeing both projects for Blumhouse.

The announcement comes on the birthday of late Halloween series producer Moustapha Akkad, of who his son Malek Akkad says, “No one would be more happy or more proud than my father, to see Halloween continue to resonate with fans all over the world.”

Halloween 2018’s Rhian Rees Nominated by the MTV Movie Awards – Cast Your Vote Now!

The MTV Movie & TV Awards, which are set to take place on June 17th at 9/8c, have announced their nominees for 2019, and our very own Rhian Rees, who portrayed ‘Dana Haines’ in last year’s smash hit Halloween has been nominated in the category of ‘Most Frightened Performance!’

HalloweenMovies.com to Live Stream this Saturday’s Halloween Panel at Monsterpalooza

Monsterpalooza, the world’s longest running celebration of the art of monsters and movie magic, (running this year April 12-14 at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, CA) is set to host a panel this coming Saturday on the continued exploits of Haddonfield’s most infamous resident, Michael Myers, and HalloweenMovies.com is set to live stream it.

Running from 1:15 to 2:00 PM PST, the panel, moderated by Fangoria’s editor emiritus Tony Timpone, will feature Halloween 2018’s makeup effects designer Christopher Nelson, actress Rhian Rees (the film’s “Dana Haines”) and The Shape himself, actor and stuntman James Jude Courtney, as they reminisce about the making of the highest grossing slasher film of all time.

Tickets are available at the door for $35 each with the convention kicking off at 11 AM, and we encourage those attending to arrive early (if past years are any indication, the show will sell out).
