John Carpenter’s Halloween Returns to Stalk Halloween Horror Nights

June 8, 2022 by Sean Decker

John Carpenter’s classic 1978 slasher film Halloween returns to stalk Halloween Horror Nights in terrifying haunted houses where guests come face-to-face with the merciless Michael Myers, beginning September 2 at Universal Orlando Resort and September 8 at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Halloween is one of the most popular horror films of all time and to many fans, spawned the most-feared antagonist in horror movie history – Michael Myers. As the franchise’s latest trilogy concludes with Universal Pictures’ release of Halloween Ends on October 14, guests will venture back to where it all began in “Halloween” – eerily authentic haunted houses that depict the most chilling moments from the critically-acclaimed original film.

On both coasts, this year’s harrowing experiences will transport guests to the infamous town of Haddonfield, Ill. on Halloween night, when Michael Myers first donned his notorious mask to embark on his brutal rampage. As guests make their way through his dilapidated home and iconic scenes from the movie, they’ll narrowly dodge attacks from the knife-wielding Myers as he stalks their every move. Myers is the embodiment of pure evil who unleashes terror at every turn, and guests will quickly realize that he will stop at nothing and no one to take his bloody revenge.

Select tickets and vacation packages are now on sale for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort which begins Friday, September 2, and tickets for Universal Studios Hollywood, which kicks off Thursday, September 8, will be available soon. Both events will run select nights through Monday, October 31, and additional details and haunted houses will be revealed soon. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.HalloweenHorrorNights.com.

Excl: Take a Behind-the-Scenes Tour of HHN’s Halloween 4 Maze

September 11, 2018 by Sean Decker

With Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers mazes opening this Friday, Sept 14th at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Orlando as part of the two theme parks’ yearly attractions Halloween Horror Nights, we got an exclusive peek behind-the-scenes this past Friday.

Thirty years since its release, the Danielle Harris-starring Halloween 4 is still beloved by fans, and celebrating the milestone, HHN creative director John Murdy, along with Halloween 4 director Dwight H. Little and Trancas International’s own Malek Akkad took us on a tour of the then still-under-construction west coast maze. And as per usual, Murdy and crew have spared no expense and ignored no detail in realizing Little’s film as a fleshed-out, haunted walk-through.

Said director Little of the maze, “It’s incredible. It gave me the chills. It’s been thirty years and it seems like it’s happening right in front of your eyes. I can’t wait to come see it as a guest of the park, and I can’t wait for anyone who had seen or who has not seen Halloween 4 to come experience this maze. It’s unbelievable.”

Will poor Ted Hollister make an appearance? That’s yet to be seen, but fans of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers should prep themselves for a fully immersive journey into some of the film’s main set pieces, from Penney’s garage and diner to the jack-o-lantern filled streets of Haddonfield. Check out the video below.

The Shape awaits.

Halloween Comes to Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights

August 14, 2018 by Sean Decker

Ahead of the October 19th, 2018 release of director David Gordon Green’s hotly-anticipated feature film Halloween, series star Michael Myers is set to appear in the flesh beginning September 14th at both Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood, as Halloween Horror Nights unmasks Haddonfield’s infamous slasher in all-new terrifying mazes based on 1988’s Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers.

From the Press Release:

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., ORLANDO, Fla. (August 14, 2018) – Beginning on Friday, September 14, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, from Trancas International Films, takes a stab at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights, bringing the notorious slasher to Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort in all-new mazes inspired by the iconic horror film.

Based on the fourth installment in the classic slasher series created by John Carpenter, the mazes will transport guests to the suburban town of Haddonfield, Illinois on Halloween night where Myers has escaped Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and is hungry for revenge. This time, he relentlessly stalks his niece Jamie as his next victim, stopping at nothing to kill her.

Guests will follow Myers as he escapes the mental hospital, encounters his first victims at Penney’s Gas Station and Diner, and wreaks terror on Haddonfield, all set to Alan Howarth’s ominous score. The maze will include horrifying scares by Myers in his classic featureless white mask and navy jumpsuit, with guests dodging his bloody knife at every turn. Halloween fanatics can expect a cameo by Myer’s psychiatrist Dr. Loomis and other famous characters from the film as they try to escape the bloodbath.

Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights is the ultimate Halloween event. For more than 25 years, guests from around the world have visited Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood and Orlando to become victims inside their own horror film. Multiple movie-quality mazes based on iconic horror television shows, films and original stories come to life season after season. And, the streets of each coast’s event are transformed into highly-themed scare zones where menacing scare-actors lunge from every darkened corner.

Additional details about Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights will be revealed soon. For more information about Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort, visit www.HalloweenHorrorNights.com. All tickets and vacation packages are on sale now.

Updates on “Halloween Horror Nights” at Universal Studios Hollywood are available online here and on Facebook, on Instagram at @HorrorNights and Twitter at @HorrorNights as Creative Director John Murdy reveals a running chronicle of exclusive information.
